'So Close' Brought Eclectic Tastes to Artist Reception

Mount St. Mary's College hosted four Los Angeles artists at its gallery last week. The reception featured an eclectic blend of video, oil-on-canvass, sculpture and photography.

Rebeca Mendez, posing for a photograph, stood illuminated by a projection of her rather large video piece, "Nothing Further Happens."

The piece was a compilation of landscapes in Norway, Iceland, Patagonia and the U.S. that Mendez captured with her 16mm camera and was on display last week for 's "So Close and yet So Far Away" artist reception held in the José Drudis-Biada Art Gallery.

The event, curated by Irina D. Costache, pulled in four local artists who use different mediums, including photography, video, paint and sculpture, to create an eclectic representation of the art world.
