Actor Harry Carey Remembered Wednesday

The actor and Brentwood resident died 64 years ago today.

Harry Carey was a big-screen actor whose career spanned almost 40 years from 1909 to 1948. He has worked with the likes of legendary director D.W. Griffith and actors John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart, according to the Internet Movie Database.

Around the time that Carey got his start as an actor in 1909, the American Mutoscope and Biograph Company hired Griffith and changed its name to Biograph Company.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Carey died on Sept. 21, 1947 of coronary thrombosis in Brentwood.
