Microsoft Brings Motion Capture, 'Seekbar' to Your PC

Microsoft is making good on its 2012 CES promise to bring motion interface to your PC. The corporation recently file a patent application for a seekbar to be used with the Xbox Kinect.

On the heels of Microsoft's announcement at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show that PC users would soon be able to use an Xbox Kinect to control their machines, comes a patent application filed by the technology corporation for a "seekbar."

A seekbar is just what it sounds like—a bar that lets you seek portions of content. It is a track that includes a "thumb" for users to move a page smoothly, scroll through an image gallery effortlessly or scrub (fast forward of rewind) through audio or video. Microsoft released its first non-beta Software Development Package (SDK) this month, giving app developers the ability to track movement more efficiently and control up to four Kinect on one computer.

The patent application indicates that users will be able to use the seekbar with Kinect to manipulate their computer interface.
