The years of vehicle travel have more than half Brentwood's streets ranging in "fair" to "poor or failed" condition, including Sunset and San Vicente boulevards, according to a pavement assessment sheet provided by the Department of Public Works.
A May 4 Los Angeles Times story highlighted wide disparities in road quality among the city's 114 neighborhoods. Click here to view the Times' street grades map, which indicates the disparities in road conditions simply are not a related socioeconomic status or political power.
Funds spent to fix a pothole or severe pavement cracking are shared across city's neighborhood as needed, highlighted by Los Angeles' lowest-scoring hilly neighborhoods with concrete that's surpassed its life expectancy. However, under a tight budget the city has not been able to keep up with the paving schedule and has tried to play catch up.
Now city officials are worried the money available for street maintenance and repair will continue to shrink, leading to the proposed $3-million street repair bond by city council members earlier this year. Various neighborhood councils across the city opposed the measure, and street repair breakdowns of neighborhood council districts were only immediately available online with the Bureau of Street Services.
Maps for the 90049 zip code were not immediately available. Patch obtained the map for Pacific Palisades which lists sections or entire streets in "poor or failed" condition. Some are:
