Built on the foundation of the highest academic standards and Jewish ethical and spiritual values, the Milken Middle…More School and sibling Community High School aim to mold students with sharp minds, generous hearts and kind souls.

The middle school was founded in 1981 in a few dorm rooms on the east side of Sepulveda on the Bel Air campus of what is now American Jewish University, the next-door neighbor of the Stephen S. Wise Temple and its elementary school.

The success of the school led to the 1994 purchase of land on Mulholland west of the 405, the erection of temporary buildings and a new middle school/high school campus completed in 1998.

But there's lot's more than a breathtaking view and high-technology facilities. The Milken experience cultivates "Judaism as a pluralistic, moral, spiritual and intellectual way of life which, in the context of community, refines the human being (tikkun atzmi) and repairs the world (tikkun olam)."

Middle school years can be especially tough on developing adolescents, so Milken offers an "inviting, supportive and safe environment because these are the optimal conditions for the academic development of young adolescents. The tone of the school explicitly and self-consciously emphasizes trust, decency, and fairness."
