I met Dick Clark in 1961 as a member of the audience at American Bandstand in Philadelphia. I lived…Read More in Lakewood at the time and presented him with a key to the city of Lakewood. One of his questions was: What is the one thing you do not like about California? and I answered him loudly the San Francisco Giants, as I was and still a Dodger Fan. I also got to attend the Dick Clark show in New York City that same summer, and gave him a 10 foot Beechnut Spearmint Flavor Ific gum rapper chain, which was the thing to do.

This was an amazing man. He did the work that the mainstream media does not do. He was a hero and I…Read More would say an angel on earth, with amazing talent and guts. He was also soldier of truth. His death and the timing of it is very suspicious. I really hope the truth about his death comes out. He did not deserve to die and if someone took him out they should be found out an prosecuted.

Bill was always a gentleman, friend, and scholar. We meet eight years ago at an Americas Best…Read More Cleaners meeting. Bill sensing my discomfort at being a invited to be in such an elite group made a point to set by me, visit with me, and make me feel a part of the group.
Always a man who had a kind word to everyone he was also thoughtful enough to
share his advice in a humble way that showed respect for the person he was visiting with.
After that, we always visited at all meetings we attended after and had dinner together with his family more than once in LA. Bill was a gentleman who was always more interested in what you were doing than talking about himself. I will miss him.

I'm a teacher in Los Angeles and of the many fond Junior's memories I have, one stands out!! In…Read More 1989 the teachers in L. A. went on strike. It was a frightening time for us. On the day we were to vote on our contract the teachers at my school, Marvin Avenue, decided that with the end in sight we could go out to breakfast and of course we chose
Junior's!!! When we got there imagine our surprise almost the entire restaurant was taken up by teachers from surrounding schools: Overland, Clover, Castle Heights, Crescent Heights, etc. Saul went from table to table offering us free coffee and telling us he was on our side. He told us teachers were important and deserved respect and decent wages!
Many times over the years family and friends have said "Meet you at Jumior's!!". We've had many great times there. But I'll never forget Saul's encouraging words back in '89!! It meant the world to me!! My deepest sympathy to the family'. Thank you so much for sharing Saul with his Junior's family!
Sincerely,
Gail Pine
