Uni's Nwaba Earns All-City Hoops Honors

The Wildcats' senior makes the First Team again.

University High boys basketball player has been named to the Los Angeles City Section's All-City First Team for the second straight year. 

Nwaba was selected co-Most Valuable Player in the Western League after averaging 22.3 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.9 blocks, 2.2 assists and 2.2 steals while leading the Wildcats to a school-record 25 wins and a spot in the Division II championship game for the fourth consecutive year.

Nwaba made Second-Team All-City as a sophomore in 2009 and First-Team All-City as a junior last season. He is the only University player, male or female, to earn All-City honors in basketball this season.

Joining Nwaba on the boys' First Team was junior wing-guard  of Palisades. Senior guard Spencer Dinwiddie of Woodland Hills Taft was named Player of the Year and Coach of the Year honors were shared by Derrick Taylor of Taft and Ryan Quinlan of Harbor City Narbonne. 

Other Western League players on the All-City boys squad were Trevone Williams and Joshua Wilson of Westchester and Landon Drew of Fairfax, all of whom made the First Team, and Second-Team picks Laik Carter of Fairfax and Robert Gsellman and Keywhon Powns of Westchester.

Three Palisades players made the girls' squad: point guard made the First Team while teammates and were Second-Team selections. 

All three girls were also All-Western League selections, as were University's and . 

Other Western League players to make the All-City First Team included Co-Most Valuable Player Taylor Holeman of Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies, Ea Shoushtari of LACES and Angelique McDaniel of Fairfax. Making Second-Team All-City were Fairfax's John'ea Thompson and Brittany Byrd.
