Uni High Hoops Star Signs with Adams State

Forward Kaimyn Pruitt will shoot for the Division II basketball program in Colorado.

Four years ago, Kaimyn Pruitt was wowing fans at University High with his late-game heroics.

Next winter, the former Wildcats standout will be showcasing his basketball skills on the NCAA level. The 6-foot-8, 211-pound power forward has signed to play at Adams State, a Division II liberal arts state college in Alamosa, Colorado. The Grizzlies are members of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and finished 20-9 last season, losing in their first game of the Central Regional Tournament.

Pruitt enjoyed a stellar senior season at Uni High, pacing the Wildcats to a 22-12 record and the Los Angeles City Section Invitational title in 2007-08. Playing forward and center, he wore No. 34 for the blue and orange and averaged 8.6 points, 13.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.7 blocks and 1.2 steals per game under the tutelage of Coach Steve Ackerman.

Pruitt had a big game against Eagle Rock in the championship game, scoring 10 points, grabbing 16 rebounds, dishing out four assists and blocking nine shots in the Wildcats' 48-41 victory. He was one of 11 seniors on Uni High's roster that season--a roster that also featured senior giards Kenton Lee and Michael Frazier and junior forward Andre Harris.

After an injury redshirt year at Antelope Valley College in 2008-09, Pruitt transferred to Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, where he earned All-South Coast Conference honors as a freshman and helped the Mounties post a 25-5 record and advance to the second round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

As a sophomore last season, Pruitt again made the All-Conference team, playing in all 29 of Mt. SAC's games and averaging 8.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.6 blocks, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals per contest. The Mounties went 23-6 and suffered a 58-56 loss to Irvine Valley in the third round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs.
