A season full of dominating victories, dramatic comebacks and the Delphic League title came to an end for the Brentwood School baseball team Friday afternoon. The Eagles lost on their home field to Oxford Academy, 11-5, in the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division 6 playoffs.
Oxford Academy of Cypress, the No. 1 seed in the 32-team bracket, trailed 5-1 with two innings left before exploding for seven runs in the sixth and three in the seventh to build a commanding lead.

The Eagles did not play a clean game, committing three errors. They induced 11 walks, but struck out 14 times. It was a rough day for Eagles right-handed pitcher , who walked 11 batters and allowed eight runs (only three earned) on four hits with five strikeouts.

The Academy League champion Patriots (25-2) have won 22 straight games and will travel to No. 4-seeded Bishop Union in the semifinals Tuesday. The five runs Brentwood scored were the first runs Oxford Academy gave up in the playoffs.
It was a remarkable turnaround season for Coach and the Eagles, who went 6-15 last season and finished dead last in the Alpha League.
