Brentwood Spikers Drop in CIF Poll

The Eagles slide from second to third in the Division 3-A rankings.

The CIF Southern Section has released this week's girls volleyball polls and dropped from second to third in the Division 3A rankings. 

The poll was voted on, coordinated and finalized by the . Top 10 polls for each division will be updated weekly throughout the season.

The Eagles opened their season at the Gahr Tournament in Cerritos last week and finished with three wins and two losses. They swept Santa Fe, Alta Loma and El Segundo but lost in five sets to South Hills and in three sets to North Torrance.

Brentwood's rival Campbell Hall remains No. 1 in the Division 3A poll. Rim of the World jumped over Brentwood into the No. 2 spot and La Sierra moved up one position to No. 4 while Windward, another Alpha League school, moved down one spot to fifth.

San Dimas stayed at No. 6, Arrowhead moved from ninth to seventh, Calvary Murrieta and San Gabriel entered the poll at Nos. 8 and 9, respectively, and La Quinta remains at No. 10. Dropping out of the Top 10 were Gabrielino and Montebello.

The Eagles, coached by Jeff Porter, last won a Southern Section title in 2008 when they went 30-5, captured the Division 3AA crown and took third in the state tournament.
