Full pad practice begins August 15 for the Brentwood School football program and the varsity squad will try to continue the success it has enjoyed in recent years under head coach Patrick Brown.
The Eagles finished 8-3 overall last season, good enough for third place in the Alpha League, and lost to Rubidoux in the first round of the CIF Southern Section East Valley Division playoffs.
Brentwood opens the season on campus Friday, September 2, against Grace Brethren of Simi Valley and follows with two more home games against Windward and Monterey County's Pacific Grove of the Central Coast Section.
In their final nonleague tuneup before league play the Eagles travel to Playa del Rey to face St. Monica--a Catholic school in Santa Monica that Brentwood defeated 33-18 in Week 3 last year.
Alpha League play begins with afternoon home games against Camp Kilpatrick of Malibu (Friday, Sept. 30) and Campbell Hall of North Hollywood (Thursday, October 14).
The most difficult game on the schedule could be a trip north to Lancaster to face defending league champion Paraclete Oct. 21 at Antelope Valley College. Brentwood was suffered a 28-0 home loss to the Spirits last season.
After Friday afternoon home games against Sierra Canyon and Downey Calvary Chapel, the Eagles wrap up league action in Pasadena against Marshall Fundamental.
Should Brentwood qualify for the playoffs it will again compete in the East Valley Division (XII) bracket.
