Brentwood Football Among Division Best

The Eagles are just outside the Top 10 in the East Valley preseason rankings.

The CIF Southern Section office released its 2011 preseason football Top 10 polls on Thursday and Brentwood School is one of those teams on the verge of earning a spot in the East Valley Division.

Brentwood is in the "others" category along with Linfield Christian and Ontario Christian from the Ambassador League, Riverside Notre Dame of the Mountain Valley League, Yucca Valley of the De Anza League and Sage Hill of the Academy League.

Three Alpha League rivals are ranked in the Top 10. Sierra Canyon and Paraclete are Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, and Campbell Hall is at No. 5.

St. Margaret's of the Academy League is third, Bishop Diego of the Frontier League is fourth. De Anza League schools Twentynine Palms and Big Bear are sixth and seventh, respectively. Round out the Top 10 are Grace Brethren (Frontier League), Aquinas (Ambassador League) and Rubidoux (Mountain Valley League).

A season-opening victory over No. 8 Grace Brethren on September 2 would likely move the Eagles into the Top 10. In addition to its four games against opponents currently ranked in its own division, Brentwood also hosts nonleague games against Pacific Grove from the Central Coast Section and defending Southern Section 8 Man champion Windward.
