Pali High Testing New Student Data System

Infinite Campus aims to provide parents, students and teachers a much needed update to student information access - from attendance to grades - from the outdated system through LAUSD.

Palisades Charter High School is testing a new student information system that's being implemented around the country called Infinite Campus. It's anticipated to go live early next year, according to Principal Pamela Magee.

Parents will soon enough to be able to use their smart phone to check their students' attendence, grades and behavior reports, among other options through Infinite Campus.

Magee said it cost approximately $27,000 for the technology upgrade, and the Board of Trustees narrowed down three different options earlier this year of where to upgrade their student data access. The booster club helped raise funds for Infinite Campus, she added.

The school's homepage, which is also seeing a complete makeover soon, will have a link to Pali High's Infinite Campus and includes color pictures and scrolling photo banners.

Magee said she heard pleas from parents about Pali High's roughly 30-year-old MS-DOS based student information system through the Los Angeles Unified School District did not give them the information needed, including similar testimony from students and teachers.

Magee credited Lily Pierre, Infinite Campus coordinator and information technology expert, for spearheading the effort for Pali High. At a recent Board of Trustees meeting, Pierre said it's a dream come true, where everything, from periods and calendars, will be connected.
