Knit Wits 'Yarnbomb' Archer School Artemis Statue

School's knitting club initiates creative public art project on campus after Maypole rises.

Shortly after The Archer School for Girls continued the annual Brentwood Village tradition to erect its Maypole, the Artemis statue on the campus front lawn got yarnbombed by a band of knit wits.

The school's knitting club is behind the creative and colorful yarn caper.

Archer Parent Advisor Gita Rosenwald said the club had a blast getting Artemis clothed and accessorized this year in an effort to spur motivation to smile on campus and beyond. All of Artemis' garments and accessories were hand-knit by the members of the Knit Wits.

"It was a fun project," Rosenwald said.

Archer derives its name from the Greek god Artemis.

Yarn bombing is more popular than one might think. There's been Patch coverage on Yarn Bombers Los Angeles' public art projects already in 2013.
