Brentwood Resident Wins National Award for Cancer Research

Heather Christofk, an assistant professor of molecular and medical pharmacology at UCLA, received the National Institutes of Health New Innovator Award in recognition of her leading-edge cancer research.

UCLA researcher and Brentwood resident Heather Christofk, an assistant professor of molecular and medical pharmacology, recently received the National Institutes of Health New Innovator Award and a $1.5 million grant for her work in the treatment of cancer.

Christofk studies the metabolism of cancer cells and is looking for ways to regulate the growth of tumors. Christofk was selected for the award from a pool of 18 other scientists in the state and 49 nationwide.
