Venice Stakeholders Association President Endorses Tina Hess

Hess seeks the Los Angeles City Council District 11 seat in the March 5 primary to replace Bill Rosendahl.

Mark Ryavec, president of the Venice Stakeholders Association, has officially endorsed Tina Hess in her bid for the 11th district city council seat.

“Mr. Ryavec actively challenged City Hall over their treatment of homeless individuals staying along the Venice boardwalk and has been an outspoken opponent against over-development in Venice’s beach neighborhoods,” Hess said in a statement. “His endorsement recognizes my commitment to being a voice of the residents and further helps unite the community in my grassroots campaign to reform City Hall from the inside out.

Hess has also been endorsed by the Westside Los Angeles Chapter of the National Women’s Political Caucus.

During her 25 year tenure as a Los Angeles city prosecutor, Hess has garnered a reputation for taking on cases that adversely affect women. She is currently prosecuting a case against one of the country’s largest insurance companies for illegally targeting women with breast cancer.

As a city councilwoman, Hess intends to be a voice for women on issues regarding healthcare, domestic violence and funding for public safety, childcare and education.

SOV you are an SOB. Your never going to reverse gentrification in Venice no matter what. When the homeless are gone you won't have anything to cry about. First Abbot Kinney then Rose and then OFW.

Mark, A mentor of mine told me that if one person calls you an ass then you can consider that their personal opinion, but if two people-or more- call you an ass then you should probably order a saddle. Mark, order yourself a saddle. Suing the city to support your personal agenda and taking up untold hours of taxpayer dollars in meetings with public officials to further your personal agenda is being an ass. And I am being generous in my description at that. What about those real people that cannot access housing right now? those that are suffering in the cold right this minute? The public nuisance is YOU for not helping with them intermediate solutions, but criminalizing the many people who are desperate and have nowhere to turn at the present moment. It is Winter, it is freezing cold. Jesus Christ! Homelessness is not a scheduled activity. There isn't enough housing for all. We all would like that! There is not enough housing designated for people currently having to live on the street. That is a solid fact. So now what? WHAT ARE YOUR IMMEDIATE SOLUTIONS? If we are wrong for doing supportive services for those who are unable to access immediate housing, then what is your solution? Just let 'em die?

Tori, who are you?

Mark, What makes you such an expert with homelessness? You are a business man. Period. Do you have a degree in Psychology? Sociology? Have you ever studied these things? What makes you such an expert? Many of us have education and experience around this issue that there is no way you could have had. Why are you touting yourself as such an expert? Why should our whole community discard our heartfelt and historic values and follow your uneducated, biased, cold hearted lead? There is no reason except the fear of lawsuits. Cease and desist! We are an inclusive, community minded community. Stop trying to make Venice into a gentrified community that we are not! If you succeed it will kill who we are as a community. And you will be largely responsible. You will have killed the Soul of Venice. Is that what you want? Because it will haunt you for all eternity.
