VA to Hold Second Malibu Surf Camp Session

The Waves of Valor Veterans Surf Camp is set for 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 20 at Zuma Beach in Malibu.

A surf camp for veterans will be held this weekend in Malibu, organized by the Department of Veteran Affairs in West L.A.

The Waves of Valor Veterans Surf Camp is set for 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 20 at Zuma Beach in Malibu.

“This partnership truly represents our efforts to engage veteran service organizations and community groups in providing health and wellness to our patients,” said Donna Beiter, director of the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. “Team Red White & Blue is excited to hold the Waves of Valor Surf Camp with the VA Greater LA Healthcare System. This is a great opportunity for community members to connect and make an impact in the lives of America's veterans."

Beiter said Team RWB is a non-profit organization that provides physical activities and social connections as powerful tools for veterans in their reintegration from active duty and recovery from combat wounds.

"Surfing is a sport that brings our communities together in a fun, healthy way and this camp is a start of a great partnership with the VA Healthcare System in the Los Angeles area," said Steve Trush, chapter captain for Team RWB Los Angeles.
