Letter: Tell Bill Rosendahl He Doesn't Want This To Be His Legacy

Please write to Bill Rosendahl and Mike Bonin as a stakeholder in CD 11, and on behalf of your HOA and neighborhood council.

Please tell them that the proposed Mural Ordinance, as currently drafted, should not be approved at City Council this month.  Nothing has happened on this issue since a PLUM hearing in January, and now some termed-out Councilpersons intend to push this through in the last weeks of their term.

There are important differences from what was proposed by the Dept of Planning.
The most significant is the removal of a carve-out, or exception, for R1 and all low density residential properties.

Other issues that need more thought, study and drafting are whether digitally printed graphics or images should be considered as Original Art, enabling individual communities to determine the needs, desires and characteristics of their areas, and a process for outreach to neighbors and how consideration will be given to input from neighbors.

There is absolutely no reason why a Mural Ordinance should not be sent back to Committee to be done properly by a new City Council and City Attorney. There is no compelling interest to rush through an Ordinance that has been gutted and amended.

Tell Bill Rosendahl that he does not want to be remembered as the person who made possible this "art" on a house on your block.
