L.A. Chapter of the National Women's Political Caucus Endorses Tina Hess

Hess seeks the Los Angeles City Council District 11 seat in the March 5 primary to replace Bill Rosendahl.

The Tina Hess for City Council Campaign announced Tuesday that the Westside Los Angeles Chapter of the National Women’s Political Caucus officially endorsed Tina Hess in her bid for the city council seat in 11th district.

As councilwoman Jan Perry steps down from the council to run for mayor, the NWCP says it could be very likely that in 2013 L.A. will have no women on the city council if one is not elected or put into the run-off on March 5.

"Right here in Los Angeles, the second largest city in the country, we only have
one woman serving on our City Council," said Lindsay Bubar, director of the
Westside Los Angeles NWPC’s political action committee. "NWPC L.A. Westside
is proud to support Tina Hess, and hope other women like Tina are inspired to
run."

Founded in 1971, the NWPC is a bipartisan, grassroots organization dedicated to increasing women's participation in the political field and creating a political power base working for equality.

During her 25 year tenure as a Los Angeles city prosecutor, Hess has garnered a reputation for taking on cases that adversely affect women. She is currently prosecuting a case against one of the country’s largest insurance companies for illegally targeting women with breast cancer.

As a city councilwoman, Hess intends to be a voice for women on issues regarding healthcare, domestic violence and funding for public safety, childcare and education.

I am a woman, and a feminist since the 70's. I belong to Planned Parenthood and Naral and Code Pink, etc... I know for a fact that just because she is a woman she will not be a good choice for our community. Please look at other qualifications! (which don't look too promising in reality) Don't be sidetracked. Just because men are men doesn't mean they cannot represent us, as women. Bonin is BY FAR the better candidate--and that is from a long time feminist! Do your own research!

Deborah are you saying that Mike Bonin is more women than Tina Hess. You might be right about one thing, when it came ti fighting for the residents of Venice, Mike Bonin was sure a pussy.
