Brentwood survived carmageddon.

The 53-hour closure of a 10-mile stretch of the 405 Freeway made for a quiet scene downtown as people stayed home or fled town for various vacation destinations.

The freeway re-opened around noon Sunday, well ahead of the 6 a.m. Monday deadline.
