Bundy Bridge Work Could Disrupt Westside Traffic

Work on the Metro Expo Line extension is planned next week on the bridge over Bundy Drive.

Construction will begin Monday on the bridge over Bundy Drive, as the Metro Expo Line extension enters another phase.

Construction planners promise that all through lanes of Bundy will be kept open during daytime hours. The road is a major feeder from Brentwood and West Los Angeles and the Santa Monica (10) Freeway interchange two blocks south of the bridge.

On Bundy, just south of Olympic Boulevard, the center turn lane and shoulders will be closed as falsework and scaffolding is installed to carry the new bridge. That work over Bundy will be performed between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. five days a week, starting Monday, and lasting two weeks.

Left turns will be prohibited at Exposition Boulevard.

Bridges are being erected on nearly every major cross street on the Expo Line extension, which follows the 1875 Southern Pacific trackage between Culver City and Santa Monica. The new dual tracks will be laid just north of Exposition or National boulevards in West L.A., and in Santa Monica along Colorado Boulevard.

Similar bridgework at the intersection of Venice and Robertson boulevards has closed one of the three lanes in each direction on Venice, causing evening major traffic jams there.
