Brentwood Resident Opposes Bundy/Mayfield Stop Signs

Samantha Greenberg starts advocacy email against the Brentwood intersection stop signs in an effort to have them removed.

While the city looks into alternative speed control methods on Bundy Drive to justify removing the debated all way stop signs, Brentwood resident Samantha Greenberg is speaking up about the intersection's traffic congestion since the installation of the stop signs earlier in 2013.

Greenberg said she's lived with her husband in the neighborhood for 26 years, and says since the stop signs were installed, it's caused overflowing traffic, arguments and illegal u-turns.

Not too far from the Greenbergs lives Joshua Yaghoubzadeh, who's lived near the intersection his whole life. He spoke to Patch in April about why the stop signs should be in place, namely for safety.

However, Greenberg claims the majority of residents and commuters are against the installation of the stops signs, based on a survey put out by the Brentwood Community Council.

She said if anyone wants to join her fight against the stop signs, email her at Mayfieldstopsignsmustgo@yahoo.com.

"Over 70 studies have been done across the nation that say stop signs are really not a good attribute to community," Greenberg said, citing City Council Bill Rosendahl's office sent a letter in May with the idea to hold a community meeting to get more feedback.

During Greenberg's interview with Patch while she held a sign at the Bundy/Mayfield intersection, one driver did stop by saying she loved the stop signs.

What are your thoughts on the stop signs?

(Patch apologizes for the delay on Yaghoubzadeh's video link not appearing. Patch support staff is working diligently to move the video from the classic site to the newer version. Thanks for your patience)
