3 Injured in Brentwood Tree-Trimming Operation

A rope the workers were using got caught in a wood chipper and drew them into contact with the machine.

Three workers were injured Saturday during a tree-trimming operation in the Brentwood Park area, a city fire official told Patch.

The incident was reported at 2:38 p.m. at 519 S. Barrington Ave., said Matt Spence of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The injuries may have been caused by a rope getting caught in a large wood chipper the group was using to shred tree trimmings, Spence told Patch. The rope could have then pulled the men into contact with the machine causing blunt force trauma only.

It's unclear whether or not the men, all in their 30s, were city employees or hired by residents of the area, Spence said.

They were were taken to hospitals in fair condition with non-life threatening injuries.
