About 50 households are left without water.

By City News Service

About 50 households were without water Thursday morning after two water mains broke in Brentwood.

The broken mains, which caused street flooding in the area of San Vicente Boulevard and Saltair Avenue, were reported around 9 p.m. Wednesday, said Michelle Vargas of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

The water was shut off around 9:25 p.m. and crews were summoned to make repairs and restore service, Vargas said.

Vargas said one main was an 8-inch pipe, in the 600 block of Saltair Avenue, that serves Saltair Avenue from San Vicente Boulevard to Saltaire Place and the other, located near the first, was a 6-inch line that serves Saltair Terrace.

It was unclear what caused the breaks and no estimate was available of when repairs would be complete and service restored, Vargas said.
