A homeowner in Brentwood is thankful no further damage was done Wednesday morning after a delivery truck sheared a fire hydrant and struck her Range Rover and house at 1140 Tigertail Road in Brentwood. The accident was first reported at 8:39 a.m.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott reported no one was injured and the extent of the damage is unknown.
Homeowner Mary Beth Broumand was home at the time of accident with her daughter when a delivery truck was traveling up the incline of Tigertail Road. At the 1200 block, she said the truck lost control of its brakes and began rolling backward.
After nearly an eighth of a mile of destruction, a fire hydrant was sheared in front of Broumand's home, the front of her black Range Rover was completely damaged by the impact and rolled down Tigertail Road before coming to a stop, and the delivery truck came to a stop against Broumand's front steps, causing noticeable damage to the steps, railing and front exterior of the home.
"We're really lucky," Broumand said.
Jose Cabrera and his other coworker in the truck said they were happy no one was hurt.
Six firefighters with Engine 19 reported to the scene, as well as the city attorney's office and the Department of Building and Safety assisted in damage assessment
