Report Suspicious Solicitations to Alert Community Website, Group Says

The Brentwood Neighbors Network reminds residents to remain cautious of bogus door-to-door solicitations and scams happening in the community.

The West L.A. Division of the Los Angeles Police Department stayed vigilent all year investigating distraction and 'knock knock' burglars, and the Brentwood Neighbors Network also reminds residents how to quickly report a crime or suspicious activity.

The group put an alert out on Oct. 25 of a new potential scammer going door-to-door in the Sunset Boulevard and North Bundy Drive neighborhoods.

The caller said they were approached by a young man claiming to attend Long Beach State who needed to talk to "200 friendly neighbors" to raise money for school. The man reportedly claimed his grandparents lived "over there." After the caller said they do not donate and asked for proper credentials, the man made an attempt to show identification but then reportedly put away his wallet in dismay that he was not getting any money.
