"They are working on this particular part of the circuit," Hughes said.

Los Angeles Fire Department crews are also reportedly on scene.

Reports of power outages, and sounds of an explosion, started flooding Brentwood Patch social media and email shortly after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Residents on Shetland Lane, Gretna Green Way, Bonhill Road and Kenter Avenue all confirmed they are without power. The Brentwood Neighbors Network supplied Patch with news tips as well. Here's one tip from a resident:

My mother in law (on bonhill) said there was an enormous explosion sound and cars are stopped on north Kenter. Any word on what has happened?

In addition, traffic may become an issue as crews work on site. A parent of Kenter Canyon Elementary School forwarded an email to Patch via a request by the Los Angeles Police Department.

The message, sent at 2:24 p.m., states that Kenter Avenue will be blocked for the next "two to three hours" due to the downed power lines. The power lines have no impact on the school, and the message adds that if you're attempting to access the school, you will need to use Homewood Avenue.

If you come from any roads using Hanley or north of Hanley, the power lines will not impact the drive.

Patch will provide more information as it becomes available.
