PHOTO: Brentwood Neighbor Reports Suspicious Solicitor

Man talks through window, claims to be with school organization.

A Darlington Avenue resident reported a suspicious man to the Brentwood Neighbors Network on Feb. 1 claiming to be from an organization representing schools, and sent in the attached photo of the man.

The resident warns others living near south of Montana Avenue and near Wellesley Avenue of similar solicitations.

"This guy claims to be with an organization that represents schools," the resident said. "But he could not name his school or any school. Seemed more interested in looking into my house and seeing what's there. He also claimed to be like the Girl Scouts."

If you experience suspicious solicitation, report it to www.alertcommunity.com so the police can keep track of the when and where of people who go door to door. For emergencies, call 911.

For more information on the Neighbors Network, send an email to info@neighborsnetwork.net.

I had a young little blk boy, maybe 10yrs old, come to the door, soliciting to sell desert items, cookies, cakes, etc. highly priced, for a school fund-raiser. Im thinking, where's the mom? Is she, perhaps down the street or in a car, off in the distance? But I had the same gut feeling too, that the boy was trying to look in

The little boy also didn't have the items with him, and he wasn't a close neighbor or anything. Now what am I gonna do? Give this boy $10+ and hope he comes back the next week, to drop off my items? Or is this just a rouse, by the mother/father, to get free $$$, and disappear, without returning with the items, the following week. Or also are they coaching the boy to look in, and see any possible items for returning back later on, while no ones around?

When in doubt, and it seems suspicious, don't talk to them or open your door. Report any activity to alertcommunity.com.
