Driver and Dog Killed in Fiery Crash on 405

A motorist and a dog were killed Saturday during a fiery crash on the 405 Freeway in West Los Angeles.

The gender of the motorist was not immediately known, said Katherine Main of the Los Angeles City Fire Department. Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the scene at 5:13 a.m.

The crash on the northbound freeway at Santa Monica Boulevard was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 5:11 a.m.

The CHP received a report of a vehicle fire with at least one person still inside. A SigAlert, issued at 5:52 a.m., closed three lanes for approximately one hour.
