Diesel Fuel Spills on 405 Freeway, Closes Lanes
All affected lanes in the Sepulveda Pass reopen shortly after 8 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol.
A semitrailer spilled diesel fuel on the northbound 405 Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass Friday morning, prompting lane closures on the busy stretch and snarling traffic during the morning commute.
The spill was reported at 3:11 a.m. at Getty Center Drive, said California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball. The fuel tank of the vehicle became punctured and leaked, and according to CHP, a SigAlert was issued just before 4 a.m.
Crews worked to clear the scene. All lanes were reopened approximately 8:11 a.m., and clean-up vehicles left the scene via the Skirball on-ramp at 8:45 a.m.
