Broken Water Pipe Caused Mandeville Canyon Closure

Mandeville Canyon Road has reopened after a broken irrigation pipe prompted a sever-hour closure Saturday morning.

A broken water irrigation pipe caused a mudflow to ooze onto a small street in Mandeville Canyon in the mountains above Brentwood today.

No structures were damaged and no evacuations were needed, however, as mud flowed off a hillside.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 1884 N. Mango Way at 9:02 a.m., said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles City Fire Department.

The small mess was overlooking the "Old Ranch" section of Mandeville Canyon, north of Sunset Boulevard.

Scott said crews from the Department of Water and Power as well as street maintenance were cleaning up the debris.
