Brentwood to Receive New LAPD Community Relations Officer

LAPD officer Phillip Enbody retires in October and could be replaced by senior lead officer Maria Gray.

Los Angeles Police officer Maria Gray could replace officer Phillip Enbody as department liaison to Brentwood.

Enbody is slated for retirement in October, Gray told attendees of the Brentwood Community Council's monthly meeting on Tuesday.

A public event celebrating Enbody's service to West Los Angeles will be held sometime in October, Gray said.

What do you think of Phillip Enbody's service as Brentwood's senior lead officer? Tell us in the comments section.

What I am trying to figure out, is why Maria Gray would be considered and why she is talking about it. The LAPD has a strict policy of advertising positions for ALL officers to apply for the Senior Lead Officer spot. If she is throwing her name out there, there could be serious consequences. This article, although brief, suggests Gray is in line for the position. This automatically sets off flags within the department that the process will be unfair in selecting a new SLO when Enbody retires.

She's already a SLO. Maria would only switch areas. It would technically leave her SLO spot open. So, no red flags, unfairness or serious consequences to be paid. Nice try though Ronald....lol

Brentwood is so fortunate to have SLO Maria Gray appointed to their area. She has done a superb job in the SORO area; widely respected by the community and very effective in promoting problem through community consensus among very diverse groups. During her tenure, crime has been reduced, respect for LAPD (already high in SORO),has increased. Once again,Brentwood is indeed fortunate and we,in SORO,are grateful for her service.
