3 Injured in Crash Near Temescal Canyon Road at PCH

A Mercedes collided with an SUV, closing the southbound lane of the PCH for more than 30 minutes.

Los Angeles Fire Department rescue personnel transported three people to the hospital with injuries Sunday night following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Temescal Canyon Road and the Pacific Coast Highway.

The accident occurred at approximately 4:59 p.m. and there were no entrapments, according to LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey. He said the LAPD West Traffic Division is handling the investigation.

LAPD Sgt. Kara Nightingale said a 1970s Mercedes Benz traveled northbound on the PCH, crossed the double yellow line and crashed into a GMC Suburban traveling southbound. Nightingale added the two people complained of pain and the driver of the Mercedes had a broken femur.

"We don't know if anyone was under the influence," she said.

The accident remains under investigation.

Traffic on the PCH came to a stop during the incident. The Department of Transportation closed the southbound lanes for more than 30 minutes to clear the scene and the lanes.

I understand that, locally, the coastline along Pacific Palisades runs from a northwest to a southeasterly direction, but as is reported by LAPD and other public safety officials, the PCH lanes are described as running northbound and southbound.

Maps (Google) will show what direction north is, but get a compass and go to the intersection of Temescal Canyon Road and PCH. North arrow will point up Temescal Canyon Road, not towards Malibu/PT Dume. Temescal Canyon Road runs north/south. s s
