What Is the Worst Valentine's Gift You've Received?

In the spirit of Valentine's Day, we want to know - what's the worst gift you ever got from your significant other?

Every Valentine's Day, men (and women alike) worry, obsess and cringe when it comes to shopping for the perfect gift for their loved one - and for good reason.

I've heard many gifts go horribly wrong. One friend thought it wise to give his girlfriend a gift certificate to a gym one year. Another thought it was wise to buy his wife a vacuum cleaner, and recommend she test it out right away.

One of my friends thought it wise to buy his girlfriend (at the time) jumper cables for her car. Needless to say, it wasn't meant to be.

Odysseus Bostick My worst Valentine gift was actually the sweetest, in retrospect, but the most painful at the moment. Like many schools, we sold carnations to be delivered on the day. I never got any, not one, except for when I was 15. It was at the beginning of the day and it was from a "secret admirer". So, all day, I walked the halls wondering who it was, hoping for a certain someone, but surprised, because I wasn't the most attractive guy in the school and never had anyone crush on me. By the time the day ended and I went home, I expected to get a phone call from that secret admirer. But, as soon as I got home, my mom asked, "did you get anything special today?" I was crushed. Like I said, in retrospect, it is very sweet. But, in the moment, it was just another validation that I didn't have anyone crushing on me. Once again.
