Matt Maxwell, described as a "wonderful father, entrepreneur, and friend to many," was also a longtime real estate salesman who focused on Trousdale Estates and Brentwood. He died at the age of 89.
He was born in Portland, Oregon to Arthur Allan Maxwell and Delores Morrison Maxwell on Oct. 26, 1922. At the age of 7, his father was murdered by Al Capone's henchmen for crossing the line into Capone's bootlegging territory.
While working as a local real estate agent in the late '50's, he joined the Masonic Fraternal Organization and achieved the high rank of 32nd Degree Mason. In the early 60's, he became a member of Al Malaikah Shriners. With his love of music, he sang with a barbershop chorus and quartets in the San Fernando Valley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice. A private "Celebration of Life" is to be held at River Island Country Club.
