Memorial Honors Marilyn Monroe Today

Sunday is the 50th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe's death. A service is planned at her resting place in Westwood.

It's been 50 years since the death of Hollywood actress, model and singer Marilyn Monroe. Every year, her fans organize a week of events to honor the life and accomplishments of the blonde beauty and cultural icon. Events happening all over Los Angeles this weekend include a tour of spots significant to the star's life, signings by authors of the many books written about Monroe and a memorial service at her grave in Westwood. Where: Westwood Memorial Park, 1218 Glendon Avenue

Time: 12 p.m.

What: A memorial service, hosted by 'The Marilyn Remembered Fan Club, will take place in front of Monroe's lipstick-stained plot at the park. A reception will follow the service at Westwood Presbyterian Church fellowship hall.

 

A River of No Return

Where: Egyptian Theatre, 6712 Hollywood Boulevard

Time: 7:30 p.m.

What: Watch a screening of 'River of No Return,' a movie starring Marilyn Monroe and Robert Mitchum. Author Lois Banner will also be present to sign copies of her book Marilyn: The Passion and Paradox.
