Land Grab or Landlord Greed?

Veterans who serve this country deserve to be venerated but to suggest that turning the VA grounds into a public park amounts to a land grab is just plain disingenuous. The VA gets big bucks for renting out the land for golf parking, theater promotions, religious services and cancer fund raisers, to name a few. As taxpaying citizens, these hallowed grounds should be enjoyed by all whose love of country and respect for the men and women who keep us safe should not depend on how much they pay to a third party as an entrance fee while the VA puts the extra money in their coffers. I see no difference between letting the public in to use the golf course and playing fields, buy and sell fresh fruits and vegetables during farmer's market or park versus allowing the public to spread a blanket down for a picnic under the beautiful shade trees. Maybe the Veterans can run a concession stand or offer pony rides to generate more revenue. By the way, the extra money could go a long way towards repairing that lovely dilapidated prayer facility that deserves a great deal of TLC because of its architectural significance irrespective of religion.
