Back to School Success for Teens: Start the Year Off With a Confident, Positive Perspective

Back to School: Start the Year Off With a Confident, Positive Perspective
By Hayden Lee, Certified Academic Life Coach for Teenagers

This is the perfect time for teens to reflect on the past year. What contributed to their success? What would they do differently next year? It is important for teens to self-reflect and celebrate their successes as well as think about how they want to improve for next year.

Here are some key questions that will help your teen start the school year off with a positive, confident, and empowered mindset.

What worked last year?
What didn’t work?
How can you improve what you’re already doing for next year?
What is your vision for how you want the year to be?
What are some concrete action steps that you can take this week to work toward that vision?

When teens learn that their thoughts have a huge impact on their actions, they also begin to recognize whether or not their thoughts are useful or not useful toward getting what they want. This self-awareness leads to better and more productive decisions.  In short, they spend less time wasting energy working against themselves and more time focusing on what is useful towards their academic and personal success.

Good luck!
