Kidville in Brentwood held a post-Mother's Day celebration Wednesday with an ultimate dream baby shower for local mom-to-be Jessica Turner alongside actress Jessica Alba, co-founder of eco-friendly and safe baby product line The Honest Company.
Turner won the company's "Honest Facebook" contest and was chosen from hundreds of submissions to receive a baby shower for her and her closest friends and family at the Brentwood daycare facility.
The winner was nominated and selected based on their commitment toward creating a safe and healthy environment for her family while dedicating herself to the service of others and charitable work, education, or overcoming adversity.
According to The Honest Company, Turner literally took “love thy neighbor” seriously and it changed her family’s life for the better. She and her husband formally adopted their neighbor’s (single mother) son when his mother passed away unexpectedly. In a year, their family of three is now about to be a family of five with Jonah’s arrival.
Turner walked away with more than $10,000 in mommy must-have prizes including a $3,000 gift card at Land of Nod, a $1,000 gift card for Tea Collection children apparel, $3,000 credit at Honest.com and gifts from Naturepedic, Cloud B, Hatch Collection, Stonyfield, Beco and Sprinkles.
The baby shower was hippo themed, with chair ties made from Honest hippo diapers, life-sized play blocks spelled out Jonah and more!
Alba, along with the other guests, wrote encouraging notes to Turner and read them aloud. Also, Alba discussed personal stories of her experience giving birth and raising her children Honor and Haven.
