The Los Angeles Fire Department will hold a Wildfire Evacuation Exercise in Mandeville Canyon under the command of the Los Angeles Police Department on Sunday, May 18, 2014, from 10:00 until 1:00.

Early and complete evacuation, hours ahead of a wind-driven fire, is now considered essential by fire safety experts. Full participation by our community is vital to its success. Those who protect us need to practice their skills at evacuation in our limited access community. This experience will help residents avoid panic if wildfire comes our way. They have asked the 3 Homeowner Associations to help advertise this drill.

Mayor Garcetti, Councilman Mike Bonin and the three Homeowner Associations (Mandeville Canyon Association, Upper Mandeville Canyon Association, and Brentwood Hills Homeowners Association) urge us all to get into our cars, and under LAPD's direction, drive down to Paul Revere Middle School. After checking in, you may leave. However, it would be in your interest to attend the safety fair which will start at 12 and last until 3pm. Firefighters, police and those who support them, will be at Paul Revere to answer our questions about Emergency preparation and ways to protect your family when wildfire threatens.

Food trucks will be available. Kids can use the ball field. But, do not bring your pets for this drill.

Police will patrol our streets while we are away.
