Derik Nelson's Take Chances Tour Arrives at Liberty High on 11/7

“GLEE” guitarist Derik Nelson and his band will be coming to Liberty High School to help raise money for the purchase of LED stage lights which will provide all of the arts events with more flexible lighting options as well as being much more energy efficient than conventional stage lighting.  The district will match whatever is made on this night so your ticket purchase is like giving double.

This concert is part of Derik Nelson’s “Take Chances Tour,” providing high schools the opportunity to raise thousands of dollars through ticket sales for his full-band, high-tech shows. Derik and his band will be performing in Liberty High’s Allen E. Jones Performing Arts Center, 850 2nd St, Brentwood, CA 94513 on Thursday, November 7th at 7pm (doors open at 6:30pm).  Call 925-634-4165 for ticket information.

The Take Chances Tour is scheduled to reach at least thirty schools across the West Coast, and all schools are expected to earn $2,000 to $10,000 through the program. Nelson and his team also provide a free educational masterclass assembly to students at the school during the day about career opportunities in the arts.

Matthew Morrison, the Emmy, Tony, and Golden Globe-nominated star who portrays the optimistic high school glee club teacher on FOX’s “GLEE” says this educational give-back Tour is close to his heart. “Derik’s incredible vocal talent, songwriting, and genuine discipline sets him ahead of other artists,” Morrison says, “This tour concept is absolutely revolutionary, and I’m so proud of Derik for the way he’s impacting and fundraising for music education in schools.”

“I want a way to reach my fans, and I want to make a difference in arts and music education. It’s a win/win,” Nelson smiles. Due to the independent tour’s scheduling success thus far, new open dates have just been added to allow more schools to participate.
