Brentwood Science Magnet Celebrates 10th Annual Community Fair & Silent Auction

Tiger Day! School community and Brentwood community come together for family fun on Sunday, April 6

The annual Brentwood Science Magnet Community Fair & Silent Auction returns on Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 11:00 am–4:00 pm; the Silent Auction opens at 9:00 am.

This fun-filled, family event welcomes the public to the beautiful 6-acre Brentwood Science Magnet Elementary (BSME) campus at 740 S. Gretna Green Way in the heart of Brentwood. This 10th annual celebration will feature an obstacle course, exhibits, arts and crafts activities, food booths, plus games and prizes.

Admission is free and food and games costs are kept low to make this a fun event for everyone. This year’s games are designed, created and run by inventive BSME fifth-graders inspired by the viral video “Caine’s Arcade.”

This year’s Silent Auction includes plenty of exciting opportunities and items:
  • Authenticated Lakers memorabilia, including jerseys signed by the great James Worthy and seven-time champion Robert Horry and a basketball signed by Lakers All-Star and Coach Jerry West.
  • Summer camps like STAR, Tumbleweed and beach camps.
  • Big ticket toys, including a scooter and American Girl doll.
  • Tickets: Disneyland, Broad Stage, Clippers, LACMA, Skirball, and more.
  • Gift baskets galore!
  • Dozens of restaurant and spa gift certificates.
  • Karate lessons, dance lessons, birthday parties and lots of other family activities.

100% of the proceeds from the Silent Auction help support the school: arts and music instruction, front and back office staff and sorely needed supplies for every classroom and the science labs.

"The 10th annual Community Fair will bring the school community and the Brentwood community together for fun, food and an all-round wonderful day," said Brentwood Science Magnet Elementary School Principal Ms. Aleta Taylor.  "The day will celebrate our beautiful campus and raise funds for art and music, which is vital to our children’s education."

Conducted by the Friends of Brentwood Science Elementary, the school’s nonprofit parent-teacher organization, the event is organized and staffed by an amazing group of volunteers. Parents, teachers, administrators, alumni and community supporters work hand-in-hand to create a safe and successful day, treasured by all. The Friends is grateful for donations of food, funds and items and services from various businesses, merchants and other supporters.  All net proceeds from the Fair benefit BSME.
