Summer Reading Club and Focus Tour at the Getty

Relax with a movie at the Brentwood Branch Library, or tour the Getty's collection of art from the Baroque period.

1. A one-hour tour at the Getty Museum explores the art and culture of the Baroque and Rococo periods of the 17th and 18th centuries. The tour begins at 3 p.m. Meet the educator at the museum information desk.

2. The Donald Bruce Kaufman-Brentwood Branch Library will host a movie showing for its afternoon summer reading club. The movie starts at 3:30 p.m. Call 310-575-8273 to learn the title of the movie scheduled to be shown. The library is at 11820 San Vicente Blvd.

3. The Skirball Cultural Center is taking registrations for its Introduction to Precious Metal Clay summer course. Offered in partnership with Otis College of Art and Design, the course will teach students how to make a pair of earrings and a pendant with precious metal clay, which consists of five silver particles suspended in an organic binder. The binder makes the silver malleable as clay. The course takes place Sunday, July 24 from 9 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. Cost is $99 for non-credit. 4. Get up close and personal with a single work of art at the Getty Museum Family Art Stops, a hands-on gallery experience geared for families with children ages 5 and up. The program starts at 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. It runs Tuesday-Friday through June 30.  Sign-up begins 30 minutes before the program at the Museum Information Desk. The Getty is at 1200 Getty Dr.
