Mylar Balloons Cause Power Outage to About 1,000 Customers

It occurred Tuesday afternoon in the area of Brentwood and West Los Angeles near the Veterans Affairs Center.

A power outage affected approximately 1,000 customers Tuesday near the Veterans Affairs Center in the area of Brentwood and West Los Angeles, according to the Department of Water and Power.

A public information officer said the outage was caused by mylar ballons. It began at 2:30 p.m and power was restored just before 9 p.m. There were also reports of traffic lights being out as a result and the spokesperson said the Department of Transportation handled and restored that as well.

A Twitter follower asked LADWP about an outage in the area of Sawtelle Boulevard and Ohio Avenue. Here's LADWP's responses:
