Gas Prices Fall to February Levels

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County on Sunday fell under $4 for the first time since Feb. 17.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County on Sunday fell under $4 for the first time since Feb. 17, dropping 1.4 cents to $3.994.   

The least expensive regular-grade gas in Brentwood costs $4.24 per gallon at the located at 11852 San Vicente Blvd. , located at 11699 San Vicente Blvd., sells premium for $4.28, the cheapest in Brentwood for that grade.

The average price has decreased for 32 consecutive days and is 13.4 cents less than one week ago and 41.1 cents lower than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.   

However, the average price is 6.2 cents higher than one year ago.    The Orange County average price also decreased today for the 32nd consecutive day, falling 1.4 cents to $3.942, its lowest amount since Feb. 16.

The Orange County average price is 14 cents less than one week ago and 44.1 cents lower than one month ago but 3.5 cents higher than one year ago.   

The decreasing pump prices are the result "of the rapid drop in wholesale prices" that began late last month when the supply started increasing after maintenance was completed in refineries in Southern and Northern California, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
