Caltrans: L.A. County Drove More During Second Carmageddon

In comparison to the Saturday before the I-405 closures in 2011 and 2012, there was a larger reduction in miles traveled during Carmageddon I, which led to a much greater reduction in delay time.

Caltrans reports a reduction, although not as large as last year, in the vehicle miles traveled through Los Angeles County during a full I-405 closure weekend in the Sepulveda Pass, as well as a reduction in delay below 55 miles per hour. Here are the numbers reported from Friday:
