Bird Watching and Closures on the 405

Come bird watching at Topanga State Park and don't get caught up holiday traffic made worse by ongoing closures on the 405 freeway.

1. Grab a pair of binoculars, a hat and bottled water and go bird watching at Topanga State Park. Topanga State Park is at 20829 Entrada Road.

2. Get up close and personal with a single work of art at the Getty Museum Family Art Stops, a hands-on gallery experience geared for families with children ages 5 and up. The program starts at 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sign-up begins 30 minutes before the program at the Museum Information Desk. The Getty is at 1200 Getty Drive.

3. Make yourself a special meal using fresh ingredients from the Brentwood farmer's market. The market takes place from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. It is at 741 S. Gretna Green Way.

4. Metro announced the latest round of closures relating to the 405 Freeway/Sepulveda Pass expansion project. The closures take place through Sunday.

  • The northbound 405 Freeway on-ramp to Sunset Boulevard will remain closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • The numbers 2, 3 and 4 lanes of the southbound 405 Freeway at Sunset will remain closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • The northbound 4 and 5 lanes of the 405 Freeway will remain closed from Wilshire to Sunset from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • The northbound 3, 4, and 5 lanes of the 405 Freeway will remain closed at Sunset Boulevard from midnight to 5 a.m.
  • Sunset Boulevard will remain completely closed from Church Lane to Thurston from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • The northbound number 2 lane of Sepulveda Boulevard will remain closed from Church Lane to Bronwood from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for wall excavation.
  • The southbound number 2 lane of Sepulveda Boulevard will remain closed from Church Lane to Bronwood from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for wall excavation.
