Weekend Things: Circus Theater, Vintage R&B Photos, Shakespeare, Farmers Market

Here are five interesting events taking place this weekend in Brentwood.

Family Amphitheater Performances 2012: Kinetic Theory

Bring the family to the Skirball Cultural Center and enjoy a one-of-a-kind performance by the wonderful circus theater arts troupe, Kinetic Theory, as part of the Family Amphitheater Performances 2012. Kinetic Theory will perform on Saturday at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. and the event is included with regular museum admission.

Saturdays Off the 405: Nick Waterhouse

Come to the Getty Center and enjoy great music by vintage R&B revivalist, Nick Waterhouse, who combines an uncanny old-school sensibility with a charged, contemporary style of music, as part of the Saturdays Off the 405. This event is on Saturday at 6 p.m. and is free and open to all.

Herb Ritts: “L.A. Style”

Come to the Getty Center and immerse yourself in the photographs of Herb Ritts, a Los Angeles-based photographer, who established an international reputation for his distinctive photographs of fashion models, nudes, and celebrities. This exhibition features a selection of Ritts' vintage prints, magazine covers, polaroids, and commercial-video projects. “L.A Style” will be displayed from Tuesday through Sunday at the Getty Center until August 26. The exhibit is free for all to enjoy.

The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles presents: “As You Like It”

Come and enjoy a classic, romantic Shakespeare comedy, "As You Like it” at the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration Japanese garden, as part of the , at 8 p.m. The VA, located at 11301 Wilshire Blvd., will open its gates at 6:30 p.m. for pre-show picnics. Admission is $25 per person.

Brentwood Farmers' Market

The is open each Sunday of the year from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Gretna Green Way, between Montana Ave. and San Vicente Blvd. You can browse and enjoy a variety of growers' organic fresh vegetables and fruits, fresh flowers, products, fresh fish, prepared foods, and artistic vendors' offerings of clothing, jewelry, art work and more. There is also an adjacent Safran Family playground for families with young children to enjoy.
