Brentwood/Pali Racquetball Team Wins 6 Ca Junior Racquetball Titles 1-25-14

On Saturday 1-25-14, the 2014 California Junior Racquetball State Championships were held in Reseda California and a local Brentwood-Pali team of Pali High and Kenter  Elementary students (and close friends) were well represented winning 6 state junior titles at the fun filled event. The team has played together for about four years and is coached by Brett Elkins (chairman of the outdoor hall of fame), Bonnie Rejaie, Morgan St John and special team coach hall of famer Debbie Tisinger Moore. They practice at UCLA John Wooden Center several times a week and travel all over the country in major competitions!

First off, the Elkins racquetball family won four titles at junior  states: Cody Elkins, 9, from Ms. Dundov 3rd grade class at Kenter Elementary in Brentwood  won first place in the boys 10 and under (pictured far left), sister Madison Elkins age 6 from Ms. Radi's first grade class at Kenter  Elementary (right) won gold in the girl's 6 and under multi bounce division and Dane Elkins, 14 (middle) a freshman at Palisades High won two separate titles in the boys 16 and 14 and under making it "all in the family!"

Next on deck was the Elkins' close friend and team member 6 foot 3  Llweyn St John who won the boys 18 junior states here because he was hoping he wouldn't have have to battle his longtime doubles partner Dane in the 18s finals and it fortunately worked out with both taking home gold in two different age brackets. Attosa Rejaei who is also Dane's doubles partner at Jr Olympics (nationals) where they took 2nd in mixed doubles  won the girls 14 and under at junior states.

The team was treated to pizza, shirts, prizes and 6 first place state certificates and had a lot of fun making new friends, playing a lot of matches, and practicing great sportsmanship in front of cheering family and friends.

Next up for the oldest members (Dane Attosa and Llewyn) is the high school championships in Portland Oregon in February  where they are representing Palisades High school and then it off to play in Jr Olympics (nationals) in June in Denver.

The six close friends and family members have won over ten world outdoor titles, a Junior Olympics tittles, several national titles and many state championships. Dane Elkins has also won a Scholarships to the US Olympic training camp from pro racquetball.

But thanks to the newest playmates, Cody and Madison Elkins, the newest additions have made racquetball all in the family and a younger generation to take over for Westside racquetball. A special congratulation is in order and we wanted to say way to  "roll it out team Brentwood/Pali!
