West L.A. Pavilions Closes

Brentwood patrons react to grocery store closing. Did you shop here?

Updated 5:20 p.m.

To the dismay of its Brentwood patrons, the Pavilions grocery store at 11750 Wilshire Blvd. in nearby West L.A. closed.

“We have performance standards established for all of our locations,” said Vons spokesman Carlos Illingworth on Tuesday. “Our Wilshire Pavilions simply did not meet expectations and we have decided to permanently cease operations.”

Illingworth said all employees have been transferred to nearby locations.

“We look forward to serving our loyal customers at our Santa Monica Vons at 710 Broadway, which is only three miles away and includes a pharmacy,” said Illingworth.

It is unclear who the next tenant will be for the old location, Illingworth said.

Readers first told Patch of the store's closing on Saturday, March 9. Here's a sampling of the Facebook reactions:

Nicola Lubitsch Really ? I was just there last week !

Ed Huggins Closed :(

Nina Drabkin It is gone.

Alex Cohen It was a crappy store anyway. Vons has said for years that they're going to tear down the store on Santa Monica & Barrington & put up a big fancy Pavilions like in WEHO. Maybe that will finally happen.

On Feb. 6, Albertsons at 3105 Wilshire Blvd. on the border of West L.A. shuttered to make way for upscale grocer Bristol Farms.
